Love birds
Fabulous treasures from the past brings with them unspoken sentiments, veiled messages, eternal love.
Hidden messages and veiled meanings capture the imagination and hearts in all of us especially with this antique sentimental motif carnelian intaglio ring from Victorian era.
During past centuries rings were more than simply decoration. Signet rings were pressed into warm wax to seal or authenticate documents, cement relationships, close deals, trade secret messages carved into meaningful symbols.
A charming reminder of a fond friendiship this signet ring showcases an oval carnelian plaque with a meaningful intaglio.
A fountain is carved to the intaglio on which two turtledoves or love birds sing love to each other, in the top middle a flaming heart to seal their eternal love, on the top an inscription: L’AMITIE (friendship).
The meaningful oval carnelian intaglio is set on a gold collet, smooth shank for comfortable wear.
Artfully crafted in 9 Kt yellow gold in Chester during Victorian era, marked with assay, city, date letter worn and maker.
