Description
Lush and shimmer
Jewelry made during the Georgian era carries a certain panache and aura. Perhaps it is the warmth of antique gold against the fire and glow of gemstones which have been witness to the passage of many decades.
Rings of this great age conjure up images from oil paintings in gilded frames stacked and hung on the walls of museums. A remarkable survivor is this interesting natural Columbian emerald and diamond cluster ring Georgian era.
Focus is on a luxurious natural emerald, so lush and verdant that it epitomises the very definition of a Colombian emerald in a beautiful double cluster conformation.
A gorgeous transparent green rectangular cushion cut natural Colombian emerald of approx 2.05 Ct possessing medium strong colouration and good clarity set on yellow gold pinched collett.
Surrounding the green goddess are two tiers of sparkling rose cut diamonds totaling approx 1.72 Ct by spread.
Rose cut diamonds, due to their flat backs, always have a greater visual impact than their actual weight as they show their beauty in length and width rather than depth.
Illustrated here is an interesting ring which brings centuries of history, the surmount is believed to have been part of a larger item of jewelry and the antique shank added later in time, most probably during Victorian era when open back mounting for gemstones started to be in fashion.
Artfully crafted in 15 Kt yellow gold and silver, tested.
Very good overall condition commensurate to use and age, wear consistent with age.
The ring will come with certificate for the emerald.
