From the Georgian period, we have a superlative pair of pearl and enamel hand with flowers drope earrings. Memorial and sentimental in nature, the earrings are replete with iconic symbols of love and memory.
Earrings from the Georgian period display such a graceful elegance. Fashions of the times dictated elongated and light earrings.
Alluring and unusual, the sections of the two-part earring are appointed with twenty two natural little pearls shimmering on black enamel sections creating a dramatic effect.
Supremely elegant, the two part articulated earrings show off gold repousse work featuring a hand clasping a bouquet of flowers simbolizing a gift of friendship or a token of affection. This technique allowed for lengthy earrings to be worn without the burden of weight.
This antique treasure demonstrates the harmonious balance jewelers of this time achieved, wire hook probably added later in time as we believe they started their life as day and night earrings with back to front fittings, European probably Italian origin.
