Let’s have a look into the technique: a micro mosaic utilizes very small coloured glass or semi precious stones tiles called tesserae to construct extraordinarily intricate and detailed images, these miniature works of art can have thousands of tiles and can be dated as far as 3d century bc.
Reaching their fashionable moment between mid 19th and mid 20th Century they were typically acquired during a grand European tour and brought back to one’s country of origin.
This beautiful example is a two part articulated pair of earrings with the top depicting a flowers in a black background framed by a ropework set in gold, a pansy or a daisy and the bottom is a romantic dove bird in blue and gold feathers with flowers framed by a gold ropework and a decorated micormosic frame in oval shape.
